HempMeds® to Host Cannabis Industry Event Featuring City Attorney Candidates Elliot and Hickey

The Association of Cannabis Professionals welcomes the cannabis industry to downtown San Diego to meet Mara Elliot and Robert Hickey for a discussion of how they will act as city attorney to help develop and regulate the cannabis industry in our city.

Medical Marijuana, Inc. and HempMeds® invite the local cannabis community to downtown San Diego for a unique opportunity to network and develop their knowledge of the industry at the Association of Cannabis Professionals’ forum. Planned for Wednesday, Sept. 7th, the event will feature city attorney candidates Mara Elliot and Robert Hickey, who will discuss the implications the city attorney race has on the San Diego cannabis community.

Mara Elliot is the Democrat contender for city attorney and is facing off against Republican Robert Hickey, a deputy district attorney. Elliot is currently a chief deputy in the City Attorney’s Office. The city attorney race is expected to be critical to the future of medical marijuana regulation and enforcement in San Diego City during this partisan election.

In discussing the possibility of legal adult use marijuana in California come November, Elliot is quoted saying, “If California voters legalize marijuana, I’ll work closely with city officials and law enforcement to implement measures that regulate, tax, and control marijuana.” Hickey’s response on the same topic was focused on restricted land use and code enforcement.

As business owners and industry insiders, it is important to understand the role elected officials like city attorney play in regulating the many facets of the cannabis market. With an educated vote, marijuana businesses can take a more proactive position in controlling the future of our industry.

The two candidates, who were the top vote getters in the primary earlier this year, will present their platforms and discuss how, as city attorney, they will regulate the medical marijuana market in San Diego. In addition, the pair will also reveal how they will manage the creation of a recreational market if AUMA passes this fall. The Association of Cannabis Professionals offers an exclusive opportunity this month for area cannabis business owners to interact with these candidates and learn how their vote can affect the industry’s future.

At this event, the Association of Cannabis Professionals will also review how the latest state and local regulations may affect your cannabis business and explain how California’s adult use campaign, Proposition 64, will legalize and regulate the recreational cannabis market in the state.

The professional association for medical marijuana providers in the greater San Diego area, the Association of Cannabis Professionals is an “alliance of organizations dedicated to providing high quality medical cannabis to patients in a professional, respectful, discreet and safe environment.”

The Association of Cannabis Professionals is asking for a donation of $10 at the door to cover the costs of the forum. You don’t need to be a member of the association or an active participant in the cannabis industry to come learn at this event.
