Medical Marijuana, Inc. became the first company to market a cannabidiol (CBD) brand when it developed the Dixie X product line as part of the Dixie Elixirs brand, creating the first medical marijuana brand to make a national and international market for CBD hemp oil products. This was possible due to the use of hemp as a source of CBD oil, which is naturally low in tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
Medical Marijuana, Inc. formed a partnership with Dixie Elixirs, a Denver-based edibles and infused beverage company, to license their products in medical marijuana states around the country. The company went national in 2012 with sales of CBD hemp oil products from Dixie Botanicals™.
In addition to national online sales and availability in health food and and natural product stores, local sales teams in medical marijuana states like Arizona, Oregon, and New Mexico that marketed the Dixie Botanicals™ line to dispensaries. The brand would eventually begin to market and ship products overseas to much of the EU and a number of other countries to create an international market of over 40 countries.
The reason CBD hemp oil can be manufactured and shipped both domestically and internationally is because most developed countries clearly distinguish between hemp and its cousin, marijuana, both of which are forms of the cannabis plant. Although it is still largely illegal on a federal level to grow hemp in the U.S., hemp can be imported from international sources and then manufactured into a range of products, including CBD hemp oil.
Medical Marijuana, Inc. bought the rights to Dixie’s CBD line, Dixie Botanicals™, in 2014 and continued to position the brand as a hemp industry innovator, along with its other popular brand, Real Scientific Hemp Oil™.
In early 2015, Medical Marijuana, Inc. moved Dixie Botanicals from Denver to San Diego. This move was made in conjunction with a push to reinforce the idea that CBD hemp oil products are available in all 50 states, not just recreational marijuana states. Our ability to ship CBD across the country has greatly expanded the availability of cannabinoids in the U.S., including to those living in non-medical marijuana states who were previously left without access to cannabis products of any kind.
