HempMeds® Mexico Looks to the Future After Notable Speech by Partner Raul Elizalde

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]With a focus on educating doctors and health officials and helping patients secure the right to Real Scientific Hemp Oil™ (RSHO™), Medical Marijuana, Inc. is shaping the cannabis market in Mexico.

Just two weeks after his televised speech and handshake with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, Raul Elizalde, HempMeds® Mexico partner and founder of the Por Grace Foundation, and his family stopped by the Medical Marijuana, Inc. offices in San Diego to visit our team and discuss the next steps in expanding and ensuring access to CBD hemp oil to all those in Mexico who are in need of it.

On April 21st, President Peña Nieto announced a major change in Mexico’s marijuana policy, moving away from prohibition and towards prevention and regulation, including medical use. This recent approach to cannabis in Mexico opens a new market opportunity for our products and represents a compassionate development in Mexico’s position on patient health.

Raul preceded President Peña Nieto’s announcement with a passionate speech, revealing his family’s struggles and praising the Mexican government’s transition on cannabis policy.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/lhpyXTSM38Q” align=”center”][vc_column_text]In a televised address, Raul Elizalde celebrated Mexico’s new strategy for cannabis and discussed the need for RSHO™ for patients like his daughter.

During the Elizalde family’s visit to San Diego, Raul sat down with Dr. Stuart Titus, CEO of Medical Marijuana, Inc., to strategize ways to continue to impact the lives of patients in Mexico through increased access. Dr. Titus and Medical Marijuana, Inc. came away with a better understanding from Raul of how to help families in Mexico who need these alternatives to traditional care, and proposed new initiatives for how the Por Grace Foundation can work with HempMeds® Mexico to support patients throughout Mexico in improving their quality of life.

Raul remarked that today’s meeting was essential because he can now take what he has learned from Medical Marijuana, Inc. about our products and “transmit this to the doctors… and the politicians… and try to make this happen for everyone,” meaning Grace’s access to RSHO™. Raul continued, “I have seen the change these products make in my daughter, and I think all the people who need it must have these products.” He went on to commend HempMeds® Mexico for making a no detectable THC product to fit Mexican regulations but said that he feels that CBD hemp oil with small amounts of THC, like our traditional RSHO™, “will help the health of a lot of people.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”7026,7024,7023,7022,7021″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]During their visit to our offices, the Elizalde family had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Titus and the Medical Marijuana, Inc. team, While their parents were occupied with Dr. Titus, Grace and Valentina hammed it up for the camera.

Since Mexico approved the first import certificates for CBD, demand for RSHO-X™ in Mexico has grown as people hear the stories of those who have used it. Most new patients in Mexico learn about CBD hemp oil for the first time through the media, on blogs, or from the Por Grace Foundation. Unfortunately, once a patient decides to try RSHO™, the approval process before them can be daunting.

Although Mexico’s federal health agency, COFEPRIS, has approved RSHO-X™ on the federal level, the individual states in Mexico have their own decentralized health organizations that collect and forward applications for CBD hemp oil to the COFEPRIS offices in Mexico City. Patients in Mexico have shown great interest in RSHO-X™.  However, they are finding the approval process for the import certificates lengthy and complex, and not everyone who applies is approved.

Doctors in Mexico are also uncertain as they navigate this new treatment option. CBD as a medication in Mexico is too new, and they are having a hard time finding the resources they need from the Mexican government.

HempMeds® Mexico has worked to fill the gap between federal policy and patient and doctor concerns. While some doctors have been resistant, many others have interacted directly with HempMeds® Mexico to educate themselves on CBD and the process for prescribing and importing RSHO-X™ into Mexico for their patients. By reaching out to physicians and medical experts across Mexico, we are able to raise awareness for RSHO™ as a possible solution.

The HempMeds® Mexico website supports patients as they maneuver through the process of approval for RSHO-X™ by discussing it step by step and including the necessary means for patients to move forward. The HempMeds® Mexico team also collaborates with patients to help them attain their certificate for import and allows approved patients to order RSHO-X™ from their website. It is the goal of HempMeds® Mexico to assist all qualifying patients who are interested in accessing CBD hemp oil by aiding them in each point in the process.

Medical Marijuana, Inc. and HempMeds® Mexico are also participating with the state health organizations in Mexico to ease the transition that applications must make between the state and federal levels, so more patients become approved for RSHO-X™.

The path to a functioning medical marijuana program in Mexico appeared quickly, but it will take some time to make the climb to fully realized access for everyone in need. However, having partners like the Elizalde family makes it worthwhile when we see how their lives have been positively affected by RSHO™.

The Elizalde family will next travel on to Disneyland for some much deserved fun and relaxation. It is the family’s first time visiting the Happiest Place on Earth, and sisters Grace and Valentina were delighted by the prospect of meeting their favorite Disney characters. That Grace can even take this trip to Disneyland is an accomplishment for this family and shows how far they have come since her diagnosis. Her father shook hands with the President of Mexico, but the family champions Grace as the real hero.

Medical Marijuana, Inc. looks forward to our continued partnership with the Elizalde family and patients in need like Grace. Through our program of doctor outreach, patient advocacy, and public education, Medical Marijuana, Inc. and HempMeds® Mexico are expanding access to RSHO™ for patients across Mexico. Our mission is to assist everyone who has the need for CBD hemp oil products in getting their needs met as quickly, easily and economically as possible.

Patients who are interested in learning more about RSHO™ or are ready to start the approval process can visit HempMeds® Mexico online.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
