Our customers’ safety and satisfaction are paramount in every decision Medical Marijuana, Inc. makes in the creation of our CBD oil products.
Many who are curious about beginning a daily CBD oil routine are concerned about the safety of using a cannabis product. Will it get me high? Is it safe to have around my kids?
Thankfully, CBD is harmless to use by all the members of your family because it is non-psychoactive and has minimal side effects. Additionally, Medical Marijuana, Inc. takes a number of important steps during our manufacturing process to ensure that the CBD hemp oil products that you and your family have come to trust are always the safest and most reliable they can be.
CBD is considered to be safe and non-toxic for humans, even at high amounts. A research paper titled Safety and side effects of cannabidiol explored this subject.
The research originated from the Department of Clinical, Toxicological and Food Sciences Analysis at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. The research review suggests that controlled CBD administration is safe and non-toxic in humans and in animals. According to the research team, “high doses up to 1,500 mg/day of CBD are reportedly well tolerated in humans.”
This level of daily CBD intake is far greater than what is present in the suggested servings for our products.
While hemp’s cousin marijuana is specifically bred to contain the compound tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the chemical in marijuana that creates its euphoric effects, hemp naturally contains low levels of THC.
In fact, for cannabis to be considered hemp, it must contain no more than 0.3% THC per dry weight. Instead, hemp produces significant levels of cannabidiol (CBD), another cannabinoid in cannabis that does not get users high.
So what does CBD oil do? This difference is based on the ways in which each cannabinoid interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). Responsible for maintaining balance in the body, the ECS has two cannabinoid receptors: CB1 and CB2.
The CB1 receptor is located in the central nervous system, and CB2 can be found throughout the peripheral nervous system. THC specifically fits with the CB1 receptor to generate its psychoactive effects. CBD, on the other hand, interacts with endocannabinoid receptors indirectly and is not psychoactive.
Because CBD oil contains only trace levels of THC, it is safe to use by your entire family without fear of intoxication. Medical Marijuana, Inc. also sells CBD products that are completely free of THC for customers looking to avoid THC altogether.
No Significant Side Effects
The side effects that are possible with CBD are minimal and are often easily alleviated. Following are the most common side effects tied to CBD.
One commonly reported side effect of CBD administration is a dry sensation in the mouth. This effect seems to be caused by the involvement of the endocannabinoid system in the inhibition of saliva secretion. This effect can be mitigated by drinking a glass of water.
Low blood pressure
High daily servings of CBD oil may cause a minimal drop in blood pressure. This drop in blood pressure is often associated with a feeling of lightheadedness. If you are taking blood pressure medication for any condition, you should consult your doctor before taking CBD. This side effect is temporary and can often be resolved by taking in caffeine from coffee, tea, or a similar beverage.
Drowsiness or Wakefulness
Occasionally, in higher doses, CBD can cause drowsiness. If you are affected this way, you should not operate machinery or drive a vehicle. In most cases, however, CBD is a wake-inducing agent. It is best to experiment with the ideal time to take CBD based on your serving size and your individual system.
Inhibition of hepatic drug metabolism
CBD can interact with a specific series of pharmaceuticals because it has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450, a group of liver enzymes responsible for the breaking down of a wide range of pharmaceutical drugs. Eating a portion of grapefruit would have a similar effect on these same liver enzymes. If one takes high doses of CBD, the cannabinoid can temporarily neutralize the activity of P450 enzymes, thus altering the way drugs are metabolized inside the body. The effect, however, is minor.
If you are taking pharmaceutical medications and are interested in taking CBD, you can discuss any potential complications regarding reduced P450 enzyme activity with your doctor and/or pharmacist.

Medical Marijuana, Inc. only uses European-grown hemp to create our CBD hemp oil products. This is because current federal laws restrict the cultivation of hemp, limiting hemp farms to pilot programs used for research purposes only. Although there are a number of options for global sources of hemp, we extract our CBD oil from European grown hemp for its high quality and superior safety.
Hemp is a well known bioaccumulator, meaning it is able to pull elements from the soil and store them within the plant itself. Because hemp is an efficient bioaccumulator, it is important to avoid using chemical pesticides that can cause residual contamination of our products. To protect our customers, we grow all of our hemp without pesticides. Our choice not to use pesticides is also the healthy option for the environment as well. Toxic pesticides sprayed on hemp plants can leach into nearby soil and water sources, negatively impacting local biological environments.
Like with pesticides, we avoid using herbicides because they can affect local biological communities or be absorbed by our hemp plants and transferred residually to our customers. For the safety of our customers and the environment as a whole, Medical Marijuana, Inc. only cultivates hemp grown free of potentially harmful chemicals, and we test every batch of oil to ensure there are no toxins in our products.
There are a number of potential solvents that can be used to extract CBD oil from the cannabis plant. Some companies choose dangerous solvents like butane, ethanol, and hexane in their extraction process.
However, this opens you to residual contamination from any solvent that is left unpurged from the oil. To extract our CBD oil from our hemp crops, we use supercritical CO2 in a process that the FDA considers GRAS or “generally regarded as safe”. Because we use a non-toxic solvent, the risk of contaminating our CBD oil is removed.
Triple Lab Tested®
Our commitment to product quality and purity has driven Medical Marijuana, Inc. to develop the strictest testing process in our industry, the Triple Lab Tested® standard. We use ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited testing labs to examine our hemp oil and assure both its safety and consistency.
These labs test our hemp oil for an accurate concentration of cannabinoids – including CBD, CBDa, CBG, THC, and over a half dozen others. To protect you from any contamination, the labs also test for:
- Heavy metals
- Residual solvents
By testing our hemp oil three times during our process, we ensure that our products are completely safe for use by you and your entire family (even your furry family members).
Feel Confident in Your CBD Oil Products
CBD hemp oil itself is well tolerated in humans and produces minimal side effects. However, to best harness the potential of hemp oil, you must ensure you are getting yours from a reliable, trusted source. Improperly grown and processed hemp can leave you exposed to the harmful effects of residual contaminants.
To protect you from these effects, Medical Marijuana, Inc. grows our non-GMO hemp free of herbicides, pesticides, and chemical fertilizers. We also extract our hemp oil using safe supercritical CO2, rather than toxic solvents like butane, to remove the risk of contamination of our finished products. We were also the first to establish a rigid Triple Lab Tested® standard for all Medical Marijuana, Inc. products.
These steps were put in place to protect you, our customers, and to ensure your happiness with every product you buy from our online shop.
